We often encourage our parents to join adoption support groups. The adoption community is fairly tight-knit, and it can be incredibly helpful to draw on other parents’ experiences as you and your new child figure out your new life together.
Parents who have adopted may be interested in a new parenting app called Parenthoods, which provides a local community to support parents. It’s a great place to build relationships with other local parents.
The founders of Parenthoods, Jeni Axline and Siobhan Quinn, decided to start Parenthoods after discussing all the changes that come with being a new parent. As Jeni put it, “Your old friends can no longer relate and you have a ton of questions. The current options out there have you wading through a mountain of information, and are one size fits all. What you really want is to connect with parents like you for advice, to share experiences and to meet up.” Siobhan agreed that there needed to be a better way, and a few months later, Parenthoods was born.
Parents have used Parenthoods to swap real-time advice, ask questions, schedule playdates, and more. To get started, download their iOS app.
