Barrett Johnson, MSW, LCSW is Director of Business Development at Binti. Barrett has spent his career in child welfare as a practitioner and agent for change and innovation. He started as a child welfare worker in San Francisco, serving children and families for five years. From there he spent about 15 years at California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC) at UC Berkeley School of Social Welfare as the Director of a project to develop and coordinate the statewide child welfare training system in California. Returning to the City and County of San Francisco in 2014, Barrett served as Program Director with a wide portfolio that included leadership for new program development/implementation, data/continuous quality improvement, policy, workforce development, contract oversight, budget coordination, foster care eligibility and support services.
Barrett began his partnership with Binti early on, working with the Binti team to develop and implement their first module in San Francisco. He’s excited for the opportunity to work with Binti to transform child welfare systems on a larger scale.
Barrett’s practice interests include: infusion of innovation and evidence-informed thinking into organizational culture; implementation science and program evaluation; addressing disparities and disproportionate representation in child welfare; technology integration in the human services; and workforce and organizational development. He is an avid traveler and skier, and lives in the Mission in SF with his two cats, Adam and Steve.
Meet the rest of the Binti team.
